Water Purification

If you are storing water for food storage, you need to use preventative measures to keep your water safe to drink. To prevent the growth or microorganisms during water storage use:

8 drops of bleach to 1 gallon of water
OR
1 teaspoon of bleach for every 5 gallons of water.

If you are trying to kill microorganisms or if your water is already cloudy:
16 drops of bleach to 1 gallon of water
OR
2 teaspoons of bleach for every 5 gallons of water stored.

Unscented household bleach with 5% chlorine is recommended.
